David Sque's message to Greek RotR fans!

Concerning the current run of Roy of the Rovers strips in the Greek monthly 'Blek' magazine, starting with the Rovers' visit to Crete in the Summer of 1980, David Sque took the time to write a message to my friend's Nikos Nikolaidis Greek RotR blog. Here's what the great artist wrote:

Επί 13 τεύχη το μηνιαίο περιοδικό ΜΠΛΕΚ αναδημοσίευε ιστορίες του Ρόυ από τη 10ετία του '60, επεξεργασμένες για να ταιριάζουν στο μέγεθος του περιοδικού της εποχής. Από το 14ο τεύχος, όμως, που κυκλοφορεί στις 15/1, δημοσιεύονται για ΠΡΩΤΗ ΦΟΡΑ στην Ελλάδα οι περιπέτειες της 10ετίας '80, ξεκινώντας από το καλοκαίρι του 1980 και την περιοδεία των Ρόβερς στην Κρήτη.

The Today newspaper ran from 1986 to 1995. It was proclaimed to be Britain's first colour newspaper and included Roy of the Rovers stories in early editions.

Roy advertised the Today stories in his own comic on 19th April 1986. At that time they were appearing in the Today newspaper on Wednesday's, Friday's and Sunday's.

These stories will be reproduced here, as I managed to retrieve the majority of these strips, originally published in the old www.royoftherovers.com site. The artist for these stories is Kim Raymond.

Launched in Tiger magazine in 1954, the Melchester Rovers striker’s career captured the imagination of youngsters and adults alike – and even former England manager Alf Ramsey.

Roy of the Rovers: 100 Football Postcards

At the end of a season which has seen the retirement of Javier Zanetti and Ryan Giggs take his first steps away from playing and into coaching, it's fitting that it's also the anniversary of a player who could put them both to shame for sheer longevity. Roy Race is 60 this year and in 853 issues did everything from winning the European Cup to getting shot. At least one of the IBWM team remains obsessed with Roy (mentioning no names but his initials may or may not be DH) and several of these 100 football postcards are currently making their way towards frames in Dave's, sorry, that unknown IBWM editor's house.

O Roy Race επιστρέφει στα περίπτερα!!!

Σύμφωνα με τις τελευταίες πληροφορίες, που έδωσε ο φίλος Νίκος Νικολαΐδης στο Facebook της ομάδας World Comics, ο "Νέος Μπλεκ" αναμένεται να κυκλοφορήσει εντός του Απριλίου, ως ένθετο στην εφημερίδα "Αξία". 

Συντομότερη ημερομηνία είναι αυτή της Κυριακής 6 Απριλίου και πιο μακρινή εκείνη του Μεγάλου Σαββάτου (19 Απριλίου).  Η έκδοση ξεκινά με τέσσερις βασικούς χαρακτήρες: Μπλεκ, Ζαγκόρ, Ρόυ Ρέης και ΤΟΜ. 

Όπως καταλαβαίνετε, με μεγάλη συγκίνηση και ανυπομονησία περιμένουμε την επιστροφή των ηρώων της παιδικής μας ηλικίας στα περίπτερα της Ελλάδας!
